BJP government in Asam announced a new program Atal Amrit Abhiyan for health care. This new health care scheme Atal Amrit Abhiyan mainly focuses on providing health insurance for people in Assam. The State Government of Assam starts to put their efforts to manage the proceedings of this scheme.

The health insurance scheme mainly gives coverage against five critical diseases. Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that people who cannot afford their medical expanse can take financial benefits under this Atal Amrit Abhiyan scheme every year in any hospitals across the state.

Atal Amrit Abhiyan Objectives
- Atal Amrit Abhiyan basic aim is to offer medical facilities to all the residents of state.
- This health insurance scheme would mainly cover treatment for five big diseases -cancer, kidney disease, brain and heart-related ailments and burn injuries.
- People suffering from these diseases would be able to get treatment at all government and CGHS empanelled hospitals for up to Rs. 2 Lakh.
- People who cannot afford the medical expenses can take benefits of this scheme
How one can take benefit of this scheme
Cancer and hearth related diseases are very common in our country and every 3rd people are affected with these problems. But because of costly treatment people cannot afford. Death rate is increase every year because of these diseases. Because of all Assam Government make a plan against these problems and launch the Atal Amrit Abhiyan.
The Assam Government has for all time tried to assist its people by launching a number of people friendly schemes. Under the scheme, the government would offer unique ID number and a health card to every needed. The BPL families have to pay nothing under this scheme. The scheme is started in April 2017 and after that smart card is given to the required people. For smart card general public have to pay only Rs 100 and other extra charges. By showing this card in any of government hospital people can avail the scheme benefit. The card will be issued to every person of the household individually. To continue the benefit of the scheme card holder have to renew the card every year just by paying Rs 100
Moreover The BPL families have to pay nothing to take benefits of this scheme, even their health smart card is free of cost and they can renew it every year without paying anything.
The state government would have to bear an extra burden of Rs. 200 crore to apply the scheme in the state. The government. also trying to links more and more hospitals under the scheme so that the populace can advantage the treatment without much problem.
The government basic purpose behind this insurance scheme is to make the state disease free and make the people aware about their health. In our country most of people never care about their health because of costly medical treatment
